St. Katharine Drexel (SKD) Parish is a Black Catholic community located in Dorchester, MA. It was established in 2000 on land bequeathed by Colonel John McKee. The Colonel (d-1902) was said to be the wealthiest Black man in the U.S.
The Church of St. Katharine Drexel is a vibrant Camden Diocese Parish dedicated to family, worship, and community stewardship. The parish was looking to develop a strategic plan that would enable them to continue as a dynamic presence in the community and ensure their growth and viability. ESC consultants conducted interviews with stakeholders to learn what the SKD community looks like and how they think about their parish home.

Sustainable Congregational Growth
ESC helped SKD establish a target to expand membership. A measured approach focuses on organic outreach and welcoming initiatives that integrate new members into the heart of our mission.
Youth and Family Engagement
ESC partnered with SKD to prioritize the next generation and significantly increase youth and family programming participation
Community and Partner Connectivity
ESC supported SKD in deepening the relational “social tissue” within the SKD community and among external partners to expand their local impact.
Long-term Financial Independence
ESC supported SKD to design and implement strategies that move the organization toward a self-sufficient financial model
