Saying Goodbye To Our Summer Interns

After a busy and rewarding summer, we’re saying goodbye to our interns, Jack DiGangi, Anne-Sophie Frédérick, and Juliette Coley!

Over the past few months, they’ve made very tangible impacts on ESC, improving systems and integrations, refreshing communications templates, and conducting research that helps us better support New England nonprofits. We’re incredibly grateful for the work they’ve done and the lasting value they’ve added to our organization. And, we are honored that they chose to spend their summer internships here with us at ESC, and to support civil society organizations and the nonprofit sector.

Beyond the impact of their work, it has been deeply meaningful to be able to support early-career professionals who are committed to mission-driven work, and to connect them with our network of seasoned professionals. We hope this experience was valuable in their understanding of the many roles, functions, and pathways possible in the social sector.

  • What were your major contributions to ESC?

I updated operations information, created templates for client intake calls, and conducted research to support ESC’s engagement with mission-driven nonprofits in New England.

  • What is something you’ve learned from this experience?

I learned more about research methods and tools specific to the nonprofit sector, like Candid.

  • What makes ESC special?

I really appreciated the small, close-knit team that ESC had, it built a very cooperative working environment.

Anne-Sophie Frédérick: Internal Systems & Processes Intern

  • What were your major contributions to ESC?

My main contributions included assessing existing systems and automating several manual tasks to streamline processes for the staff team. Additionally, I researched and analyzed various softwares and tools to help identify more effective and cost-efficient alternatives!.

  • What is something you’ve learned from this experience?

I learned the value of technical supports for nonprofits, especially given the rapid pace of advancements in tech.

  • What makes ESC special?

The people, without a doubt! I am happy every day that I get to meet everyone at the office, whether we are working or just hanging out together. These are connections that I wouldn’t trade for anything!

Juliette Coley: Marketing & Communications Intern

  • What were your major contributions to ESC?

I developed a content calendar with different themes for our social media, collected testimonials from ESC’s nonprofit partners and volunteer consultants, and refreshed our brand design across our social media, newsletters, annual report, and event programming.

  • What is something you’ve learned from this experience?

I’ve learned about the inner-workings of organization and the nonprofit sector, and gained a better understanding of nonprofit consulting.

  • What makes ESC special?

I think the operational model of volunteer consultants is very interesting, but beyond the services ESC provides, I was very inspired by the mission-driven approach of the people doing the work. I also feel very grateful for the small, friendly team I worked with everyday; they made this experience a lot more exciting and rewarding.

What stood out to us in their answers was how the value they took away went beyond projects and accomplishments. They talked about people and culture.

As a small team, we had the opportunity to work closely, learn from each other, and build meaningful relationships along the way. That sense of connection and collaboration is a big part of how we at ESC approaches relationships with our partners.

We’re so grateful to have had Jack, Anne-Sophie, and Juliette as part of our team this summer. Thank you for everything you’ve contributed, and for making our team stronger and a lot more fun. We’ll miss you and wish you all the best in what’s ahead!

A special thank you to The Forest Foundation and Bowdoin College for supporting this paid internship program and making this opportunity possible.
