ESC Welcomes 6 New Members to Its Board of Directors
Welcoming ESC's Newest Board Members
At our April board meeting, ESC was proud to unanimously elect six new members to our Board of Directors. Each brings not only deep expertise and leadership, but also a shared commitment to strengthening nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve across New England.
Elected for terms expiring in 2029

Alexander Bezek is an ESC volunteer consultant, alumnus of ESC’s Catalyst program, and a member of the team recognized with the Edmund V. Marshall Outstanding Project of the Year Award at last year’s ESC Celebration of Service. As Director of Operations at Haley House, Alex brings a strong foundation in education, along with deep ties to Boston’s BIPOC community and longstanding relationships with community-based organizations.

Sean Higgins serves as Director at Philanthropy Massachusetts, where he has led the Summer Fund for nearly a decade. With a deep understanding of the nonprofit landscape across Greater Boston, Sean brings expertise in coalition-building and partnerships, funder engagement, and strategy, along with a track record of thoughtful leadership during moments of sector-wide challenge.

Carol Johnson is an ESC volunteer consultant and an active member of ESC’s Finance Committee. She brings more than 30 years of financial and operational leadership experience, including serving as CFO of multiple software companies. Carol is widely respected within ESC for her steady, hands-on contributions and her expertise in strategic planning and financial management.

Andrew Macey brings extensive experience in corporate and technology leadership from his role at EPAM Systems, along with a background in AI consulting. His volunteer work with organizations such as the Jericho Road Project and the Greater Lowell Community Foundation reflects a deep and ongoing commitment to supporting community-based nonprofits.

Nahir Torres has built a career in philanthropy grounded in advancing equity and human rights. With leadership experience across foundations and service on national boards including Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees, she now leads her own consulting practice supporting nonprofit partners. She brings a strong lens on systems change and community-centered impact.
Gigi Wang is an ESC volunteer consultant and a seasoned market research and strategy leader. Her work with startups and venture-backed companies has given her deep experience in organizational growth, strategic planning, and business development. She also brings a strong commitment to advancing efforts that support women and inclusive leadership.
Together, these six new board members reflect both the breadth and depth of the ESC community. They bring perspectives that span sectors, disciplines, and lived experience, from finance and technology to philanthropy, operations, and strategy. Just as important, they share a belief in the essential role of strong nonprofits in building resilient communities, and a commitment to a vibrant and thriving civil society across New England.
